5 Tips for Easy Fasting While You Perform Umrah During Ramadan 2025

It’s a very challenging to perform Umrah while fasting but it is also really rewarding spiritually and for the afterlife. But performing Umrah during Ramadan requires proper planning and preparation to ensure safety and avoid any medical issues. Following are some practical tips to help you properly plan for this spiritual journey.

1. Pre-Preparation of Umrah During Ramadan

  • Before planning for Umrah, consult with your doctor or a healthcare professional to make sure that you are physically and mentally prepared for performing Umrah while fasting.
  • Make sure that all your travel documents are in order including the visa for specifically performing Umrah during Ramadan. Because of the peak season you should book your flights and hotels way in advance so that you don’t face any issues after hand.

2. Nutrition and Hydration

Suhoor: You should always try to opt for a nutritious pre-dawn meal because it will help you provide long-lasting energy. Try to get as many complex carbohydrates as possible. Some basic sources of carbohydrates are oats, proteins (eggs, chicken, beef) and also fruits for hydration.

Iftar: While it will be really hard to control yourself and to start with heavy meals you should always start with dates and water as these are traditional and also a Sunnah followed by a balanced meal which includes vegetables, less protein and rice or bread.

3. Managing Energy Levels

Scheduling: Plan your Umrah rituals in a way that you would perform those in the cooler parts of the day, ideally after the traweeh prayers at night or really early in the morning before the Fajr prayer. Try to take regular breaks in between to avoid dehydration and exertion.

Physical Condition: Before the month of Ramadan while preparing for other things try to perform in physical activities such as regular walking or light exercises to build up stamina.

4. Dress Appropriately for Umrah

Clothing: Make sure to wear light colored dresses with loose fitting garments that cover your body properly but still allow for air-circulation. Some fabrics like cotton or silk will help you absorb sweat and keep your body cool.

Footwear: Try to wear comfortable walking shoes or it would be even better to wear sandals because they can be easily removed as you would need to take them off during the prayers and they would also allow better air circulation.

5. Safety and Security

Stay Connected: Keep your phone charged so that they are available in case of an emergency and to also stay in touch with your group. Make sure that you keep your belongings secured and be aware of your surroundings.

Follow Rules: Follow all the rules and regulations set by the Saudi authorities to make sure a smooth and safe Umrah experience for everyone.
